Motivation, Motivation and you guessed it Motivation
Our motivation is to help kids learn things and the way we do it is via learning and activity books to keep them busy while learning. We want them to the best version of themselves but still get to be kids in the process, neverforget that kids needs to be kids.
Look at what sells best on platforms like Amazon – thats usually what kids are learning and parents are buying for them, we focus on 2.5-5 years old and writing, counting, letter, numbers and so on.
It´s not easy to be continously creative and productive so take help with motivation, support and idéas from friends and family and work when you feel like it Don’t force it.
We are an all out Adobe and Microsoft powerhouse just because we like the workflow and know the tools. But there is many free or low cost options out there if you want to dip your toes into making books for children.
What we use is Adobe Photoshop for all graphics and pagebuilding , InDesign for making the book they got one BIG advantage and its dynamic linking, means that if you for example change a file in Photoshop it will update in InDesign – and Acrobat for making the final cover .pdf https://www.adobe.com/ and Microsoft Word for writing text and spellchecks https://www.office.com
For Making grafics: Gimp: https://www.gimp.org/
Foxit to make .PDF: https://www.foxitsoftware.com/
If you can’t do illustrations there are plenty of sites where you can buy or get pictures for free, just read up on their licensing even if they are free there usually limitations on how to use the assets. Or take help from an illustrator or writer.
We are using Amazon because we target the US market first and foremost but our books can be bought almost all over the world. We are now also testing google books for our e-books. Read up on the rules and how to depending on if you are doing e-books or paperback.
